Kriegstagebuch - Pionier Btl 651 - German Cross Winner

Several Kriegstagebuch (official war diaries) for Pionier Btl. 651, covering dates from the period 1939-41 (I have not checked whether they cover this period in its entirety or not). The Kriegstagebuch not only detail Pionier Btl's early activity in the war but also their work as part of the German operation in Romania (Heeresmission Rumanien - a secret mission to secure the oil fields of Romania).

In short, a fascinating assemblage of documents, offering great research potential and of true historical importance, since it is quite possible no other detailed accounts exist of the activities of Pionier Btl. 651 at this time.

The Kriegstagebuch are complete with the envelope (dated June 1941), within which they were sent to Otto Sudek (Kompanie Chef with Pionier Btl. 651), an eventual Oberleutnant and DKiG winner with Grossdeutschland.

Infantry Assault Badge - Hollow - FLL

Unmarked Infantry Assault Badge in zinc, attributed to the firm of FLL. Silver grade.

Very good condition.

Unmarked Infantry Assault Badge in zinc, attributed to the firm of Wiedmann. Hollow examples by this maker are rather hard to find.

Replaced catch and possible refinishing (period repair in my opinion). Priced accordingly.

DRK Member Lapel Pin - Schwesternhelferin

SLapel pin, as worn by DRK (German Red Cross) Nurses. The badges measures approx. 35mm across and features a Greek Key design to the outer border.

Excellent condition; probably the best example of this badge I have ever encountered.

Army Long Service Medals - Court-Mounted

Very nice set of Wehrmacht Long service medals (4 Years and 8 Years) with Heer eagle devices to ribbon; court-mounted as a pair.

Some oxidation to the surface of the medals; generally, very good condition.

Iron Cross, 2nd Class - 1939 - Near-Mint Condition

Stunning example of an unmarked Iron Cross, 2nd Class. Although unmarked, the cross is a Gustav Brehmer manufactured example.

Excellent, near-mint condition.

War Merit Cross, 2nd Class - 1939 - Near-Mint Condition

Very nice, unmarked example of a War Merit Cross, 2nd Class. Early quality, that is to say buntmetall as opposed to the later zinc.

Some wear to the bullion knot; generally, very good.

DAF (German Labour Force) knife; fully marked.

Used and sharpened condition.

Mother's Cross - 1st Class - Cased - Rare Maker!

Near mint example of a cased Mother's Cross, 1st Class. Maker-marked to the inside of the case: "W. Pala - Gablonz".

This is one of the harder makers to find and in fact, the only example I personally have encountered by this maker.

A couple of hairline cracks to the enamel at the tip of one arm and some rubbing to the reverse - the cross was clearly worn but cherished; otherwise, near-mint condition.

#284 - SOLD!

Scarce set of NS Frauenschaft Kindergruppe (Childrens Group) member lapel pin and ausweis (with dues stamps). The badge measures approx. 23mm x 10mm; the Ausweis 105mm x 75mm.

The lapel pin is pinned to the card (this is how it was obtained). Rather than risk creasing the outer cover of the Ausweis, I have decided not to remove the pin for photographing. Rest-assured it is in sound condition.

Flak Trophy - Downed-Plane Part - Must-See!

Part of a propeller, taken from a plane downed by a Luftwaffe Flak soldier in 1944 (the person in the accompanying studio portrait) and subsequently made into a war trophy.

The prop stands approx. 30cm high and the base measures approx. 22cm x 18cm.

The prop has the saying "Barsch sein heisst Alles!" ("To be cheeky is everything!") painted on it, along with the place and date, "Szombathely 13.6.44". Szombathely is the tenth largest city in Hungary and is located near the border with Austria.

Very good condition and a great display piece.

Luftwaffe Award Document - Marksmanship

Excellent Luftwaffe award document for marksmanship, featuring a diving Stuka. The document commends the recipient (a Feldwebel) on his performance and confirms the bestowal of the Luftwaffe Marksmanship Lanyard. It is dated 20 November 1940.

The document has been folded but it is framed and as such, in good to very good condition.

The dimensions of the frame are 35cm x 44cm. Due to the nature of this item (glass), shipping is limited to UK destinations only.

Period Photos - Motorway Opening - Hitler

Lot of 5 No. period photos (6cm x 9cm and mounted on card; annotated) showing Hitler and his convoy officially opening a motorway.

Very good condition.

Landhelfer Brief - Scarce!

Scarce Landhelfer (land helper) Brief (essentially an honour document) recognising a young woman's contribution to agricultural work (a minimum of 6 months labour). The document is dated 30 April 1935 and features a photo of the holder.

Hole-punched; otherwise, very good.

Hitler Jugend Booklet Lot - Der Junge

Lot of 9 No. HJ booklets, entitled "Der Junge". The booklets measure 120mm x 165mm. Each booklet typically has about 12 No. pages.

Good condition.

NSFK Lapel Pin - Supporting Members

NSFK (National Socialist Flying Corps) lapel pin, as worn by sponsoring / supporting members (as designated by the "F" in the wreath beneath the swastika which signifies "Foerdener Mitglieder"). Maker-marked to the reverse.

Very good condition.

Period Book - Soldatenzeit - Schoene Zeit - IV Armeekorps

Period book which was in fact presented to a soldier in commemoration of his time serving with IV. Armeekorps. The book documents the soldiers life (recruitment, training, etc.).

The book is hardback and measures approx. 170mm x 245mm. Lots of decent photos.

Good condition.

Motor-HJ Reference Book - Das Autobuch fuer den Pimpfen

Period technical reference book for members of the Motor-HJ, dealing with all aspects of motor transportation. Quite a scarce book as it happens.

The book measures approx. 175mm x 245mm and contains over 100 No. pages.

Good condition.

NSDAP Membership Book / Parteibuch - Laue

Membership book, as presented to dues paying members of the NSDAP.

The holder joined the NSDAP in 1932 and the book was issued in 1934 (there was always a delay between joining and receipt of the membership book). Photo of holder present (he looks to be wearing the NSDAP membership badge).

Dues stamps from 1935 through until the war's end (optimistically shown as 45/46). In addition stamps for Reichsparteitag, 1935-39.

Good condition.

Kriegsmarine Award Document - Marine-Flak - Norway

Award document to a Marine Obergefreiter recognising successful completion of a Marine-Flak test.

The document is on stiff paper and measures approx. 20cm x 28cm.

It is dated September 1943 and signed by Abteilung Kommandeur as well as Training Leader (an Oberleutnant).

Very good condition.

Lufwaffe Award Document and Photos - KG 257

Award document to an Unteroffizier with 1./Kampfgeschwader Nr. 257 (a Bomber unit) recognising 4 years loyal service. The document is signed by the commander of Air District 7; it is dated 31 March 1938.

Accompanying the document are 7 No. photos of the recipient, two of which, appear to show him wearing a Staffel-Abzeichen.

The Urkunde has a few creases but all-in-all, good to very good condition.

Waffen-SS Portrait Postcard

Potrait postcard showing a young member of the Waffen-SS (sleeve eagle and runic tab are visible) alongise two family members. Dated to the reverse, 1942.

Of note, one of the women is wearing the RADwJ commemorative service brooch.

Good condition.

BDM Grouping - Gruppenfuehrerin - Gau Danzig

Grouping to a member of the BDM, Gau Danzig.

The grouping comprises: BDM Mitgieds-Auweis (Membership Card), dated 1934 and with a good uniform photo; in addition; Dienstkarte der HJ (BDM Werk "Glaube und Schoenheit"), also with uniform photo; lastly, post-war Military Government of Germany, temporary registration paper - said paper identifies that the holder achieved the rank of Gruppenfuehrerin.

Good condition: please see photos.

Very nice example of a War Merit Cross, 2nd Class with Swords. Although the cross is unmarked, the packet is marked to the reverse; "Steinhauer & Lueck".

Please note the less common orange coloured ribbon.

Infanterie-Regiment 65 Award - Shooting

Most unusual and interesting award for shooting, as presented to a member of Infanterie-Regiment 65 for success in shooting, presumably game.

The award is on stiff card and measures approx. 110mm x 110mm. It bears the official stamp of Infanterie-Regiment 65; in addition, the signature of the Hauptmann and Kompanie-Chef.

DRK (German Red Cross) Grouping to a Nurse

Very interesting grouping to a Nurse.

The grouping comprises the DRK the linen Personal-Ausweis (with uniform photo and dues stamps); furthermore, the DRK Verwendungsbuch (although the only such book I have encountered it appears to be a record of her service and details the hospitals she has worked at). Lastly, the subject's RADwJ Reichsarbeitsdienstpass and a number of photos (showing nurses and convalescing soldiers).

Please note the RADwJ Arbeitsdienstpass is NOT part of the grouping (it belonged to a different person) and was photographed in error. It is listed below.

Generally, very good condition.

Work pass (ausweis) for the women's branch of the State Work Service organisation, or RADwJ as it was known. Good uniform photo.

Split along fold of spine.

DAF Membership Book - Heer Pionier

DAF membership book. Plenty of dues stamp and interestingly a stamp confirming the holder's transfer to the Pionier. First time I have seen such a stamp.

One staple has become separated from the spine.

Arbeitsbuch, as issued in 1936. Plenty of entries.

RKB Member Lapel Pin - 40 Years

Membership awarded in recognition of 40 Years service to the Reichs Krieger Bund (State Veterans Association).

Maker-marked to the reverse; very good condition.

DAF Member Lapel Pin - Transitional

Transitional period, DAF (German Labour Force) Member Lapel Pin. Transitional, since it features the RZM mark in shortened format (i.e. without the M1 prefix). As such, it can be dated to 1934/35.

Very good condition.

HJ Tinnie - Thueringen - 1933

Tinnie for the HJ, Thueringen/Rudolstadt, 1933. The tinnie measures approx. 22mm x 38mm.

Some marks to the surface; generally, good to better.

NSDAP Leaflet - Speech - March 1933

Early pamphlet for a speech, concerning Marxism and German-Christian Socialism, to be given 22 March 1933.

Of particular interest is the non-rotated swastika.

The leaflet has been folded and has a couple of small tears (one either side (approx. 45mm in length). Unusual item, nevertheless.

Some wear to the outer fabric of the spine; otherwise, good.

War Plane Guide - Kriegsflugzeuge

Period plane spotting book detailing German, Italian, British, American and Soviet war planes. Prepared in conjunction with Goerring's Air Ministry.

Pionier-Steuermannschein - Scarce!

Scarce motor-boat "driving" licence, specifically for Heer Pionier. The licence was awarded in June 1944 (permitting use of a motor-boat on the Vistula river) around the time of the Lvov–Sandomierz Offensive.
