Kuban Shield - Army

Kuban Shield, on Heer (Army) backing cloth. Maker, unknown.

Excellent, unisued condition.

General Assault Badge - Brehmer

An ummarked GAB, in zinc, as manufactured by the firm of Gustav Brehmer.

Obverse finish largely absent; otherwise, very good condition.

Panzer Assault Badge - Silver - Frank & Reif

An unmarked buntmetall PAB; Silver Grade; as manufactured by the firm of Frank & Reif.

Rubbing to the highpoints of the badge; nevertheless, much of the silver finish still present (far better than the photos show). In closing, a sought-after example with signs of period wear.

Panzer Assault Badge - Bronze - Juncker

An unmarked zinc PAB; Bronze Grade; as manufactured by the firm of Juncker.

Areas of zincpest, as is often the case with zinc Juncker PAB's. As a result, the badge has been treated with a protective layer of vaseline. Possible replacement pin. Otherwise, a sought-after badge with much of the original finish still present.

Deutsches Rotes Kreuz - Cap Emblem

Cap badge for the German Red Cross. Maker-marked to the reverse; "ELM".

Very good condition.

HJ Sleeve Triangle - Traditions - Entitlement Permit

HJ Sleeve Triangle, West/Kurhessen, with so-called Traditions stripe (indicative that owner was a member of the HJ prior to 30 January 1933). Accompanying the triangle is the owner's entitlement permit or Berechtigungsausweis, a rarely encountered doucment. Lastly, a photograph of the holder wearing said triangle.

Of note, the ausweis confirms that the holder joined the on 1 April 1932; the reverse of the ausweis describes him as an "Alten Kaempfern" of the HJ (Old Fighter of the HJ).

As to condition; the triangle is uniform-removed (as one would expect); the ausweis is rather tatty but rare nevertheless.

SA Wehrmannschaft - Armband

Very nice example of the SA Wehrmannschaft armband; RZM tag to the inside.

A few stains and some fold marks to the SA emblem; essentially, unissued condition.

Breast Eagle - Aluminium - Gilt

Breast eagle as worn by officers of the Kriegsmarine or Heer Generals. Maker-marked to the reverse.

Excellent condition with only a few small areas of finish loss.

Luftwaffe Cap Eagle

Cap eagle; removed from album.

Some moth damage and glue/paper remnants to the reverse. Priced accordingly.

German Cross in Gold - SS-Hauptsturmfuehrer

German Cross in Gold (DKiG), as awarded to the SS-Hauptsturmfuehrer, Franz Schultes. The cross is maker-marked to the reverse of the pin, "20" (Zimmermann). The Cross was acquired directly from the family in Germany.

Accompanying the award is a page of the Heeresverordnungsblatt, detailing the award made to Schultes.

Field-repair to cross, as a result of which, the pin has been mounted horizontally, as opposed to vertically. Outer wreath secured in one place only (see photos). Small chips to enamel of swastika.

In closing, a rare opportunity to purchase a combat-worn DKiG, as awarded to an SS-Hauptsturmfuehrer. A period photograph (scanned) of Schultes will be provided to the purchaser.

Of note, the SS long service stickpin, as offered for sale in this listing (see below), is also from the estate of Schultes.

Iron Cross, 1st Class - 1939 - "100"

Maker-marked ("100" - Waechtler & Lange) example of a WWII Iron Cross, 1st Class or EK1 as they are known by collectors.

Cross has a period repair to the catch (very well done) and some areas of corrosion to the core. All-in-all, a good combat-worn example and true piece of history.

Iron Cross, 1st Class - 1939 - "L55" - Convex

Maker-marked ("L55" - Waechtler & Lange) example of a WWII Iron Cross, 1st Class or EK1 as they are known by collectors.

The cross is slightly convex (something that was ultimatley prohibited by the regime but favoured by soldiers in the field): however, no signs of separation at the edges or raised inner corners.

Good to very good condition.

Iron Cross, 2nd Class - 1939 - "11"

Maker-marked ("11" - Grossmann & Co.) example of a WWII Iron Cross, 2nd Class or EK2 as they are known by collectors.

Toning to frame; core in good condition (a few small areas of finish loss).

Iron Cross, 2nd Class - 1939 - "13"

Maker-marked ("13" - Gustav Brehmer) example of a WWII Iron Cross, 2nd Class or EK2 as they are known by collectors.

Cross is in very good to better condition with only minimal finish loss.

Iron Cross, 2nd Class - 1939 - "65" - Packet - Early

Unmarked example of a WWII Iron Cross, 2nd Class or EK2 as they are known by collectors, complete with its original packet.

Although unmarked the EK2 is attributable to the firm of Klein & Quenzer and features the seldom encountered 1st pattern core. In addition, superior quality beading. The accompanying packet is the rarely encountered early version; maker-marked accordingly. Short length of ribbon.

A few marks to the core of the cross (though I suspect these could be removed - look to be more like paper debris than surface degradation); otherwise, very good to excellent condition.

Iron Cross, 2nd Class - 1939

Unmarked example of a WWII Iron Cross, 2nd Class or EK2 as they are known by collectors. Although unmarked, the Cross can be attributed to the firm of Waechtler & Lange. Replacement ribbon (medal bar width); reflected in price.

Cross is in good to better condition.

War Merit Cross - 2nd Class - Packet

Super example of a War Merit Cross, 2nd Class or KVK2 as they are also known.

Cross is unmarked and of early quality: it is complete with its maker-marked packet of issue (K. Hensler, Pforzheim).

Excellent condition.

BDM Urkunde Grouping

Grouping to a handball champion. Grouping comprises the following items:

1) 2nd place Urkunde for the 100m race in the "Glaube & Schoenheit" section of the Light Athletic Championships, Obergau Duesseldorf, 1940. The Urkunde is signed in ink by the Obergaufuehrerin. Embossed HJ emblem to outer cover of Urkunde.

2) Certificate of recognition for performance in handball, as awarded by the Wuppertal Association of Physical Training in 1949.

3) Quantity of photographs relating to the 1949 handball championships; in addition, a newspaper cutting and a sports association newsletter.

Of note, the subject of the grouping was a German Ladies Handball Champion in 1949.

All items in good condition.

DAF "Der Angriff" Noticeboard

Noticeboard on card, measuring 310mm x 465mm. Banner to upper portion: "Der Angriff - Tageszeitung der Deutschen Arbeitsfront".

Water stains; etc.

DJ Insignia Grouping

Small grouping to a member of the DJ, or Deutsche Jungvolk. Grouping comprises sleeve rune and rank patch; in addition, two photos of the former owner.

Insignia is uniform-removed and in good condition.

DJ - Patenschafts-Ausweis

Scarce Patenschafts-Ausweis (in fact, the only one I have ever seen) for a member of the Deutsche Jungvolk; Faehnlein "Bluecher".

It would seem the ausweis amounts to a commitment to provide financial support to the Faehnlein; specifically 0.20 RM per month.

A little tatty around the edges; nevertheless, scarce if not rare.

DRL Membership Card - Child's Version

Version of the DRL (Deutscher Reichsbund for Leibesuebungen (German National Association for Physical Training)) membership card, specifically for children under the age of fourteen years. Photgraph of holder to the reverse and one dues stamp.

Good condition.

HJ Gesundheitspass

HJ health pass or Gesundheitspass; signed, stamped and dated, 1937.

Good condition.

KDF Teilnehmerkarte

Kraft durch Freude vacation participant's card, for a trip to the North Tyrol in 1939.

Hole-punch marks; otherwise, good.

HJ Ausweis Grouping - Honour Badge Holder

Grouping to a holder of the HJ Honour Badge (HJ Ehrenzeichen) and member of the Streifendienst.

Grouping comprises the following items:

1) HJ Mitglieds-Ausweis: uniform photo; Streifendienstgefolgschaft stamps to photo page.

2) Ergaenzung zu Mitglieds-Ausweis: dues stamps for 1936 and 1937.

3) HJ Fuehrerausweis: uniform photo; promotion through to Kameradschaftsfuehrer.

4) Versicherungskarte: dues stamps for 1936 and 1937.

5) several items of official correspondence, one of which confirms that the subject is a holder of the HJ-Ehrenzeichen.

The Fuehrer-Ausweis has suffered a little over the years; otherwise, the documents are in good to better condition.

DJ Auswes - Jungbann "Schinderhannes"

Interesting and unusual DJ Ausweis for a member of Jungbann "Schinderhannes". The holder of the ausweis joined the party in 1932.

Of note, Schinderhannes was Germany's most famous outlaw. During the late 18th century he went on a crime spree in the region of the Rhine. He was known for targeting wealthy Jewish citizens whilst leaving the local peasant population alone.

Good uniform photo, showing interesting DJ buckle in-wear (seemingly thin Rune).

Poor condition (folded twice and hole punch marks) but very interesting all the same.

Wehrpass Grouping - KIA Russia (Heldentod) - HJ Honour Badge Holder

Poignant grouping to a Grenadier with 8. (M.G.) Kp. Grenadier Regiment 81. I say poignant since he was killed in action (south-east of Kharkov), aged 19, little over two weeks after arriving in Russia. Previously, he had served in France on the Atlantic Coast.

In addition to the Wehrpass, the grouping includes the Heldentod document (indicating a hero's death for the Reich, signed by his company chief); a number of photographs (including photos of his grave (the location of which is identified in his Wehrpass); also, letters of condolence to his parents; newspaper cuttings concerning his death and even a telegram from his parents to his brother informing him of the tragic news.

All items in good condition.

HJ Zeltlager Ausweis - 1936

Request to attend the 1936 Summer Camp. It should be noted that the request acted as a Camp-Participant's Ausweis too. The reverse details the various items (clothing etc.) that were to be taken to the camp.

A few stains; etc. Good condition, overall.

HJ Teilnehmerkarte - Langeoog 1937

Participants ausweis for the HJ Freizeitlager on Langeoog, 1937. The ausweis also entitles the holder to wear the Lagerplakette.

A few tears to the edges and other signs of age; overall, good condition.

HJ Teilnehmerkarte - In den Alpen

Participants ausweis for the Alpine Freizeitlager (free-time camp) of Geniet Kurhessen.

Fold along one edge and some creases; stains; etc.

NSDAP Gesundheitspass

NSDAP Health Pass; as issued in 1939 and stamped accordingly.

Very good condition.

Oberpostsekretaer Grouping - 25 Years Faithful Service

Grouping to an Oberpostsekretaer (a relatively high rank within the German Postal Service).

The grouping includes the following items:

1) Postal Worker Identity Card - dual language (French; German). Good uniform photo, although the cap eagle has been partially obscured by a deliberate ink smudge; as has the face of Hitler on the dues stamp.

2) Post-War Arbeitsbuch.

3) Promotion Certificates; 2x pre-Third Reich; 1x Third Reich - awarding the rank of Oberpostsekretaer and signed on behalf of the President of Reichspostdirektion.

4) 25 Year Civil Long Service Urkunde and corresponding award. Please note the cross has been separated from the ribbon, although this would be very easy to repair.

5) Official notice (war-time) concerning financial matters.

Condition: generally, very good.

RAD Service Urkunde

Colourful award document on stiff paper, celebrating 6 month's service in the RAD. The document measures approx. 445mm x 325mm and would make for a very good display piece once framed.

As to condition, there are a few stains, some creases and a couple of small tears but nothing terrible.

Reichsnaehrstand Beitragskarte & Lapel Pin

Contributions card for a member of the Reichsnaehrstand (National Food Office). The card was issued in 1938 and has 22 No. dues stamps attached.

Accompanying the card is the Deschler manufactured lapel pin.

Document in very good condition; lapel pin, worn, but neverthelss, good to better.

RLB Mitglieds-Ausweis

Reichsluftschutzbund ( National Air Defence Association) Mitglieds-Ausweis (membership pass) with a few dues stamps.

A few stains; good, overall.

SA-Ausweis Grouping

Small grouping to one individual. Grouping comprises: 1) SA-Ausweis, as issued in 1934; 2) Arbeitsbuch, as issued the Alfelt Work Office in 1938; lastly 3) SA member lapel pin.

Condition: photo of ausweis has been replaced (by recipient, since the grouping was acquired from the family); Arbeitsbuch in excellent condition; lapel pin, worn condition.

SA Wehrabzeichen Urkunde

Award book for the SA Wehrabzeichen; book is complete with its original outer cover. Photo of holder and award entry, dated May 1942 and signed by an SA Obersturmfuehrer with Standarte 208.

The book has a crease to the rear cover; otherwise, it is in very good condition. The outer cover has some mottling, but good nevertheless.

Shooting Proficiency Booklets

Small lot of shooting booklets to a member of Infanterie Regiment 12.

Some stains and water damage; one loose page. Generally, good.

Russian Front Award Document Grouping

Small grouping to a member of an Artillery Regiment. Grouping comprises: 1) Provisional Award Document for the Russian Front Medal; 2) Urkunde for the Wound Badge, in Black; 3) Paperwork and Quittungskarte.

Documents have been folded.

HJ - Ehren Urkunde - Reichsberufswettkampf - 1939

Impressive looking document (295mm x 210mm), given to one Adolf Niebuhr in recognition of honourable performance in the annual DAF/HJ Trade Competition, 1939.

Age mottling; otherwise, very good.

HJ - Beteiligungs Urkunde - Reichsberufswettkampf - 1936

Award document recognising participation in the annual HJ/DAF Trade Competition, 1936. The document measures approx. 150mm x 215mm. Of note, the recipient's teacher has signed the document, underneath Axmann's facsimile signature. In addition, a pencil note to the reverse.

Folded once and punch-hole marks; otherwise, good.

HJ - Beteiligungs Urkunde - Reichsberufswettkampf - 1938

Award document recognising participation in the annual HJ/DAF Trade Competition, 1938. The document measures approx. 145mm x 205mm.

Very good condition.

War Merit Cross and Russian Front Grouping - Leningrad

Grouping to an Unteroffizier with the 223 Infanterie Division, who saw combat on the Russian Front, specifically Leningrad.

Grouping includes the documents for the War Merit Cross and Russian Front Medal; in addition, the associated awards and their original packets of issue. Please note that the ribbon accompanying the War Merit Cross, has been modified for wear at the tunic buttonhole.

Of note, the award document for the War Merit Cross is signed in ink by the Commander of the 223 Infanterie Division; a winner of both the Knight's Cross and German Cross in Gold, Generalleutnant Christian Usinger.

Documents have been folded; packets are in poor condition (tears); awards themselves, good to better condition.

Award Document Grouping - Grenadier Regiment 467 - Russia

Award documents for the War Merit Cross, 2nd Class with Swords (dated 30 January 1943 - Battle of Smolensk) and the Wound Badge in Black (dated 25 October 1943 - the withdrawal, following the Battle of Smolensk). The latter being the Besitzzeugnis or Provisional Document.

Both documents have been folded twice and have water stains.

VDA Membership Card

Membership card for the VDA (Volksbund fuer das Deutschtum im Ausland (Association of German People in Foreign Lands); dated 1940.

Very good condition.

Wehrpass Holder

Faux leather wehrpass holder; holder measures approx. 165mm x 115mm.

Some marks and stains to the surface; generally, good condition.

Patriotic Bracelet

Patriotic bracelet, approx. 190mm in length, featuring multiple swastika motifs.

Small area of corrosion to the surface; generally, very good condition.

HJ Member Lapel Pin - Arbeiter Jugend

Good example of the so-called, first pattern, HJ member lapel pin, featuring the legend; "HJ - Deutsche Arbeiter Jugend". The badge has a diameter of 22mm and is not maker-marked: it is a pre-RZM example, i.e. early 1930's.

No enamel damage.

KK Gewehr Lapel Badge - Bronze

Shooting award badge (small calibre rifles) for a competition held at Spittal an der Drau. The badge has a diameter of approx. 40mm.

Of note, the bronze grade of this badge is much harder to find than the higher grades.

Very good condition.

Kreisschiessen Lapel Badge - Silver - 1941

Shooting award badge for the competition, as held in Bregenz, 1941. The badge measures approx. 43mm x 22mm.

Although most of the silver wash is absent, the enamel is in very good condition. Some corrosion to the area of the pin (please note, this is not a repair).

NSDAP Member Lapel Pin - Buttonhole

Buttonhole example of the standard NSDAP Member Lapel Pin. Badge is maker-marked to the reverse; "M1/72" (Fritz Zimmermann, Stuttgart).

Some light scratches to the enamel; otherwise, very good.

NSDAP Member Lapel Pin - Stickpin - Miniature

Scarce stickpin miniature of the NSDAP lapel pin, featuring the plain border; i.e. devoid of any inscription. The badge is pre-RZM and dates from the mid 1920's, prior to the formalisation of the party.

A few light scratches to the surface of the enamel; generally, very good.

NSDAP Member Lapel Pin - Paul Meybauer

Early (dating from the 1920's), pre-RZM, fully maker-marked, example of the NSDAP Member Lapel Pin. The reverse of the badge carries the full manufacturing mark of the acclaimed Meybauer firm; "P. Meybauer Berlin S.W.68.". Please note the small swastika cf. standard party badges.

A couple of small scratches; otherwise, very good to better condition.

In closing, a scarce and sought-after badge.

Opfer-Ring Lapel Pin

Scarce example of the Opfer-Ring lapel pin; marked to the reverse; "Gauleitung Baden".

Minor scratches to the enamel; generally, good to very good condition.

SS Long Service Award - 8 Years - Stickpin

Rare example of the SS Long Service Award for 8 Years, in stickpin miniature (9mm diameter).

The pin is from the estate of SS Hauptsturmfuehrer, Franz Schultes (please see the DKiG listed above for further info).

Some loss of finish; overall, good to better condition.

RLB Membership Card and Lapel Pin

Membership card for the Reichsluftschutzbund (State Association for Air Raid Protection); ausweis has dues stamps for April '38 through March '39.

Accompanying the membership card is the RLB member lapel pin; maker-marked to the reverse.

All items in very good condition.

Bilder Bogen vom Kriege

Large (415mm x 295mm) pictorial propaganda booklet, aimed at children, extolling the German war effort. Stories illustrated include: Ritterkreuztraeger Gefreiter Brinkforth; Unser Afrikakorps; Ein Fallschirm zu wenig!; Deutsche U-Boote vor Amerika; etc.

The book is a little tatty, especially the cover. However, the stories themselves remain in relatively good condition and are brightly illustrated. A few pages do have some small tears, etc.

Phrasebook - French & German

Phrasebook, as issued to soldiers, during the occupation of France.

Some ink notes to the pages; otherwise, good condition.

DJ Group Portrait - 1932

Very interesting photograph, dated 1932, showing a group of DJ boys. Please observe the Potsdam badges pinned to the scarves of a couple of the boys; in addition, the boy wearing a Kletterjacke.

The photo measures approx. 110mm x 85mm and is printed on Agfa Lupex paper.

Removed from an album; otherwise, good condition.

Postcard - Und Ihr habt doch gesiegt!

Postcard commemorating the 1923 Putsch; writing to the reverse, dated 9 November 1938 (the anniversary of the Putsch) and Putsch anniversary cancellation mark.

A little knocked at the corners; generally, good to very good condition.

Very good example fo the Civil Long Service Award for 25 Years, complete with its original carton of issue.

The carton has a few scuffs; the cross is in near-mint condition.

The cross is in very good condition; the case, the exterior in particular, has suffered a little over the years: water damage, stains and scuff marks. Nevertheless, a scarce set.

DRL - War Disabled

DJ Proficiency Book - Badge - Photo

DJ Proficiency Book with entry for the Proficiency Badge (dated 1937) with correspondingly numbered award (an early quality cupal example with a comparatively low number, "11,462").

In addition, a postcard sized portrait of the holder, showing said badge in-wear, pus the HJ Honour Badge.

Toning to obverse of badge; otherwise, all items in very good condition. Scarce set.

Luftschutz Medal - 2nd Class - Carton

A very good example of the Air Defence Medal, 2nd Class, complete with its original carton of issue.

Medal in excellent condition; carton is a little grubby and has a few scuffs.

Mother's Cross - Bronze - Packet (1)

Excellent example of the 3rd Class, Mother's Cross, complete with its original packet of issue. Packet is maker-marked to the reverse; "Lind & Meyrer".

Packet has a few stains and has been folded once; cross is in excellent condition.

Mother's Cross - Bronze - Packet (2)

A further example of the 3rd Class, Mother's Cross, complete with its original packet of issue. Packet is maker-marked to the reverse, "Jakob Bengel". Ribbon ends sewn together.

The cross is in excellent condition; the packet has a piece missing where the flap inserts.

Mother's Cross - Bronze - Rotated Swastika

A further example of the 3rd Class, Mother's Cross. However, most unusually, the swastika has been rotated. As you will see in one of the photographs, the central (swastika) disc, sits proud on one side: a result of the placement needle not being in the correct position.

The cross is in excellent condition.

Mother's Cross - Gold - Miniature - Brooch

Scarce miniature of the 1st Class, Mothers Cross on bar brooch fitting. The cross measures approx. 20mm x 16mm; the bar, 50mm in length.

Excellent condition; flawless enamel. In short, a high quality example.

Mother's Cross - Gold - Miniature - Variation

Mother's Cross in miniature (approx. 21mm x 15mm) with variation suspension ring. Please observe the projection at the top of the cross and compare with that of the cross listed above.

Very good condition with no enamel damage and much of the original gilt still present.

Mother's Cross - Silver - Packet

A superb example of the 2nd Class, Mother's Cross, complete with its original packet of issue. Packet is maker-marked to the reverse, "Foerster & Barth".

The cross is in excellent condition; the packet has a couple of tears to the upper reverse section (near the insert for the flap). Nevertheless, an outstanding set.

Ribbon Bar (1)

Ribbon bar for the Iron Cross, 2nd Class and Heer Long Service Award (metal device present). Bar has a width of 50mm.

Good condition.

Ribbon Bar (2)

Ribbon bar for the EK2 and Russian Front Medal. Bar has a width of 27mm.

Good condition.

Lapel Ribbon

Lapel ribbon version of the Order of the Silesian Eagle, 2nd Class.

Excellent condition.

Tinnie - Grenzlandkreis Obererzgebirge

Tinnie from the border region with what was then Czechoslovakia. Unusual in its design, since it features a fabric pendant suspended from a metal bar.

One thread has become detached, though this could be repaired; otherwise, very good condition.

Tinnie - Hitler Tag - 1932

Scarce tinnie from 1932, i.e. before the coming to power of the NSDAP, commemorating "Hitler Tag".

Hard to discern in the photograph but the badge is maker-marked on the upper obverse edge; "J. Bauer Sohne Zella-Mehlis".

Although well done, I believe the pin has been re-attached.

Tinnie - NSV

Small (23mm x 19mm) and unusual tinnie for the NSV (Nationalsozialistischen Volkwohlfahrt).

Much finish remaining; very good condition.

Tinnie - Reichskriegertag - 1936

Veterans Association tinnie from 1936. The tinnie, which incorporates a quite striking design, measures approx. 47mm x 40mm.

Very good to better condition.

Tinnie - Aufmarsch SA Gruppe Hansa - 1936

Large (45mm diameter) tinnie, produced to commemorate the march of the SA, Gruppe Hansa, in 1936.

The tinnie, which retains much of the original finish, is in good condition.

HJ Sports Vest

Very good example of the classic HJ Sports Vest. RZM tag still present, albeit a little faded.

Some stains (seemingly rust) but no holes.
