Frontbann Badge

The Frontbann Abzeichen was instituted by the Berlin-Brandenburg SA-Gruppe, in order to acknowledge those members who had joined the Frontbann organisation, prior to 31 December 1927. The obverse of the badge bears the legend: "Wir Wollen Frei Werden" - "We Want To Become Free".

The Frontbann itself, was formed in 1924, as an alternative right-wing organisation to the then banned SA.

The badge displayed below is the earlier pre-RZM version of the award. It is marked on the reverse; 'Z.M.Ost' - NSDAP Zeugmeisterei Ost (located in Berlin). The award measures: 20.5mm x 20.5mm.
